Councils & Committees

Finance Council:    The Finance Council assists the Pastor in his administrative responsibilities, particularly in the area of finance, building maintenance, and financial planning and development.  There are eight members chosen from the parishioners of Christ the King Parish.  Each member of the council serves a term of three years.  Meetings are held each month and are open to parishioners.  David Hill 503-656-7423

Home and School Association: The Home and School Association (HSA) is a group of parent volunteers and teachers whose purpose is to promote the welfare of the children and youth in the parish school, to bring into closer relationship in the home and the school so parents and teachers may cooperate in the teaching and formation of the children, to deepen their own understanding of the principles of Catholic education, and to help facilitate and meet the financial goals and commitments of the school. Leslie Bergeson 503-698-6974

Liturgy Planning Committee:  Assists the parish priest in planning the liturgies, environment and additional details which make up the rite of worship for our parish. Father Don 503-659-1475

Parish School Council: In the Archdiocese of Portland, all school councils are advisory in nature.  A school council may participate in decision-making by formulation and recommending, but never enacting policy.  Christ the King Parish School Council is a group consisting of elected and appointed volunteers from within the School and Parish community.  The umbrella role of the Parish School Council is to provide policy direction to educational programs for Christ the King School. Meetings are generally held monthly.

Pastoral Council:  The Pastoral Council meets monthly for the purpose of assisting the pastor to assess the pastoral needs of the community.  It is designed for a membership of ten parishioners, each serving a term of three years.  Membership includes the Pastor, School Principal and Director of Religious Education.  Also invited to attend are the Parish Secretary, Business Manager, and member of the Parish.  The Mission of the Parish Pastoral Council is to support the pastoral works of Christ the King parish.

Stewardship Committee: The Stewardship Committee is a sub-committee of the Pastoral Council and focuses on ways and means for parishioners to be good stewards of their individual talents and possessions.  Simply stated, stewardship is an expression of gratitude to God.  The committee's main objective is to work on ways that remind us that we are the administrators, not the owners, of our assets.  It fills a need deep within each of us to worship God and to thank Him for the abundant blessings He has showered upon us.  The "Stewardship: A Holy Way of Life" effort by this committee, deals with a very realistic and easy-to-understand opportunity to worship God and to express gratitude to Him through the intentional, planned and proportionate contribution of time (prayer & worship), talent (ministry & service), and treasure (income & assets) to this parish and other charities.

Vocation Committee:  Meets quarterly to encourage and support vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
